Honest arrival estimates
Traffic and distance genuinely affect arrival time — a service that gives a realistic window rather than a blanket promise is being straight with you.
Not every puncture repair service is the same. Here's what's worth checking before you book one.

Ask whether they'll actually inspect the tyre before deciding, rather than repairing it on the spot regardless of the damage. See our guide on what a puncture repair actually involves for what that inspection covers and why some punctures aren't repairable at all.
Ask when the price gets confirmed — before anyone arrives, on arrival once the damage is visible, or only after the work is done — so you know what you're agreeing to and when.
Mobile tyre work still needs to be done to the same standard as a garage — proper tools, correct torque settings, and a fitter who knows what they're doing.
Most of the tyre repair callouts we get are punctures: a nail, a screw or another sharp object in the tread, or a tyre that keeps slowly losing air. We work on cars, vans and trade users, at your home, your workplace or the roadside. If a wheel has a locking nut and the key has gone missing, we can deal with that too, because the wheel has to come off before any tyre can be repaired.
A safe puncture repair is not a plug pushed in from the outside. When we arrive, we take the tyre off the wheel so it can be checked from the inside as well as the outside. Damage on the inner surface, often caused by driving on a soft or flat tyre, cannot be seen from outside and can make a repair unsafe.
If the tyre can be repaired, we repair it from the inside, refit it to the wheel and balance it before the wheel goes back on. If it cannot, we tell you why before any further work is done.
Tyre repairs in the UK follow the British Standard BS AU 159. For a car tyre, a repair is only allowed when:
Damage outside the central area, in the sidewall, or larger than 6 mm cannot be repaired safely, however small it looks. We check each tyre on the spot and explain what applies to yours.
If a tyre cannot be repaired, the safe option is to replace it. So that the job can be finished in one visit, we ask for your tyre size when you call — it is printed on the sidewall, for example 205/55 R16 — and bring a suitable tyre with us. We don't carry every size on the van, which is why the size matters. Replacement is also the right choice when a tyre is already worn close to the legal tread limit of 1.6 mm.
If your car has locking wheel nuts and the key is lost, we remove the nut on the spot. This is an extra charge, and it is included in the quote we give you. See our locking wheel nut removal page for more.

Under the UK standard BS AU 159, a car tyre can usually be repaired if the damage is in the central part of the tread, is no larger than 6 mm and there is no other damage. We check the tyre inside and out before deciding.
We explain why and fit a replacement. Give us your tyre size when you call and we bring a tyre with us, because we don’t carry every size.
